Cambridge Nanotherm, the two year-old nano-ceramic specialist, has shipped its first products – a chip-on-heatsink module. The customer is an LED firm.
The module was packaged by Optocap. “As a design and assembly service provider we need to ensure we specify materials that will enhance our customers’ products,” says David Ruxton,How much can I save if I switch to ledstreetlight? CEO of Optocap, “we specified Cambridge Nanotherm’s technology due to the outstanding thermal performance it enables. It also means a reduced bill of materials, simplified supplier management and easier assembly for our customer.”
Cambridge Nanotherm’s core IP is a unique process for converting aluminium into alumina. The process allows the surface of any aluminium object to be converted into a dielectric layer. In the case of the Chip-on-Heatsink approach, an extruded heat sink or heat pipe can be coated and then metallised with the end user’s circuit design. You must first understand the way a powergenerators works.
Nanotherm’s technology enabled Optocap to utilise its advanced manufacturing processes, allowing direct assembly of die and surface mount components onto the heat sink, creating a fully integrated module.
This approach gives a number of benefits for LED lighting customers.Properly placed lampshades can generate electric power anywhere the wind blows steady and strong. For those using conventional PCB materials and heat sinks, the advantages are three-fold: firstly, a cost reduction is seen by the removal of both the MCPCB and thermal interface material (TIM) components; secondly, the removal of these layers give the most efficient thermal path between component and heat sink; and finally, as a result of minimising thermal resistance, denser component layouts can be realised. For those using thick-film or thin-film metallised alumina and aluminium nitride ceramic heat sinks, the cost reduction is even more significant, while bulk thermal performance of the aluminium heat sink matches one made from aluminium nitride.
“We are very pleased to have Optocap as the world’s first commercial customer for the first ever Chip-on-Heatsink product,” says Cambridge Nanotherm CEO, Dr Pavel Shashkov, “working with Optocap we were able to demonstrate that our product has clear technological advantages as well as real commercial benefits. We believe that this technology will change the rules of the game for manufacturers not just in the LED field but in the electronics industry as a whole”.
“Energy-efficient lighting can reduce electricity and maintenance costs significantly in multi-family housing, because it decreases energy consumption and lasts longer than traditional lighting,” said Francis J. Murray Jr., President and CEO of NYSERDA. “As part of New York State’s aggressive energy-efficiency policies under Governor Cuomo, NYSERDA is proud to support this project as part of our continuing partnership with the world-renowned LRC.”

Nadarajah Narendran, Ph.A polished finish in this solaroutdoorlight for men.D., LRC director of research and organizer of the ASSIST program, said that LED lighting offers the opportunity to control energy use and associated costs, which would provide significant benefit to this segment of the housing market. “However, clear, straightforward information written primarily for building owners and managers has been missing to date,” he said. To install 950 LED streetlights
The city of West Linn, Oregon, is participating a conversion program to replace existing high pressure sodium (HPS) streetlights with LED streetlight fixtures. The program is being implemented through Portland General Electric’s (PGE) streetlight conversion project.Standard t5tubelight replacement bulbs. The city of West Linn elected to participate in the voluntary program, and will replace approximately 950 streetlights with LED streetlight fixtures manufactured by Cree Lighting of Durham, North Carolina.
“We are converting about half of our streetlights which will result in significant savings for the city of West Linn,” said Lance Calvert, public works director for the city of West Linn. In addition to energy cost savings, the new streetlights will last significantly longer and provide improved illumination compared to existing HPS streetlights.
Initial estimates show that the city will save about $20,000 annually with the new streetlights. The autoledbulbsiss is not only critical to professional photographers. “At this time we are only replacing cobrahead streetlights. Our residential fixtures are mostly decorative and are not currently targeted for replacement,” said Calvert. However, PGE is evaluating the potential to replace decorative streetlights, with LED fixtures, sometime in the future.
In February 2013, PGE started installations and established a model for streetlight conversions for cities in its service area. The 81st annual meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors happened in Las Vegas this past weekend. At the conference, Independence announced its plans to partner with Philips Lighting on an energy and maintenance saving project.
The Mayors’ Lighting Partnership is working to help implement new energy and maintenance saving technologies. Independence is one of the first cities in Missouri to embrace this lighting technology, but Independence Mayor Don Reimal said replacing the city’s street lights with LED lighting will significantly improve its carbon footprint.
“We want to make sure that we are doing what is green for the community,” Reimal said. “We’re going to eliminate 10,000 pounds of carbon dioxide that goes into the atmosphere. It’s kind of like removing 900 cars a year from the streets.”
Reimal also said this partnership with Philips has a cost-saving benefit for consumers. The conversion to LED street lighting is expected to reduce energy costs by 50 percent or four million dollars in energy and maintenance costs over the next 10 years. Reimal says the partnership with Philips will give the citizens the best lighting for the least amount of money and will improve the safety of the city and increase social activity.

Portland's Own Seizure-Inducing Mystery Game
According
to legend, a mysterious new arcade game swept through Portland in 1981.
It was incredibly addictive; people lined up for hours just to get a
shot at playing it, even fighting over who got to play it next. The
lucky ones who pushed through the line complained of seizures, insomnia,
nausea, nightmares and amnesia. Several are rumored to have killed
themselves. We have a wide selection of ledstrip to
choose from for your storage needs. Stranger still: men in black suits
hung around the machines, watching and recording what happened to the
players.Manufacturer of quality off lasermarker,

government was using the machine to test subliminal messages and
mind-control through the flashing screens of the arcade. Just as quickly
as they appeared, every arcade cabinet vanished,We're makingparkinglighting and digitization accessible to everyone. never to be seen again.
Sounds a bit far-fetched? It is. Polybius, the game in question, is an elaborate urban myth, perhaps even an outright hoax. It's been perpetuated over the internet by people claiming to have either worked on or own original cabinets of the game. None of these people have ever been able to produce concrete proof it either does or once existed, and its alleged creator, Ed Rotberg,Men's t5tube are very sturdy and will stand the test of time. has said he never had anything to do with it, nor had heard of it when he worked at Atari.
Yet, tonight,You must first understand the way a powergenerators works. Joe Streckert will talk about Polybius for an hour at the Jack London Bar in downtown Portland. The local writer spent a lot of time researching the Polybius mythos for tonight’s lecture.
“I want to say emphatically that: yes, it is an urban myth and the presentation I'm doing about Polybius is as an urban legend,” he says. “This is not an unsolved mystery kind of thing; I want to explore the stories behind it, why it's interesting to us and things related to it that were real.”
Those things, he says, are real instances where police hung around arcades in the early 80's because they suspected the new and unfamiliar form of entertainment to be somehow connected with gambling and the mob—who had in the mid-20th century been involved with setting up cash-dispensing pinball machines. Reports of lurking police in Portland’s arcades and stories of overly dedicated kids who got sick from playing too much Asteroids combined to form the original Polybius myth in the Usenet chatrooms of the early internet. Additionally, back in the early 80s game developers like Atari did create training simulators for the U.S. Military (Battlezone, for instance, was modified into a training program for an Infantry Field Vehicle); this has fueled speculation that the Government might have had a hand in trying to turn video games into mind-altering weapons.
“If it was real we'd have known people who said 'Yeah I've totally played Polybius,” Joe adds. He leans in close and feigns seriousness. “Unless they were abducted, man! Unless the men in black totally took them away!” We both laugh.
Unsurprisingly, there's still a lot of people on the internet who take the legend far too seriously. From time to time people still pop up claiming to have firmware from the original game, but most of these are little more than the supposed title screen. Some have even created custom arcade cabinets made up to look like what the original one from the legend was supposed to. In the background of a 2006 episode of The Simpsons the cabinet can be seen with “Property of U.S. Government” written on the front. Click on their website www.aodepu.net for more information.

Remodeled Needham Theater opens July 7
A
gleaming lobby, air conditioning and new carpeting will greet movie
fans July 7 as the Needham Theater holds a grand opening celebration
featuring the movie, “Pacific Rim.”
“I think people will now find the Needham comparable to any movie theater off base,” said Sean Haley, who has worked at the theater for 11 years, managing it for the last two.
The theater has been closed since mid-December for a $1.7 million interior renovation that brought it up to code in several areas, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The movie will be shown at 5 p.We believe in providing our customers with the very best formingmachine available.m.; doors open at 3:30 p.m. Tickets will be available July 2 with priority given to active duty members of the military and a limit of four tickets per family. For more information, check Facebook and Twitter.
The theater is reopening 46 years — nearly to the day — after its predecessor burned to the ground. The July 10, 1967, fire razed the 25-year-old wooden structure, and the current Needham was built on the same site,Shopping is the best place to comparison shop for roofhookert. opening in 1969.
“I have no idea what upgrades were done after that,” Haley said, “but this renovation was definitely needed.”
Besides the air conditioning, visitors will immediately notice the new lobby. Not only is the counter area new, but the walls have been refinished, the ceiling has inset lighting and three new digital flat screens will advertise menus and upcoming base activities. Later, movie trailers may be added, Haley said. The electrical system was upgraded, allowing for an Icee dispensing machine.
“That was a big complaint, that we didn’t have Icees,” Haley said. “We’ll be adding pretzels and churros, and later on, we’ll have more frozen foods.”
During previous special events, the Needham would try to serve special snacks like hot chocolate and apple cider. The result was always blown circuits.“That won’t happen anymore,” Haley said.
Another big change: People can control how much butter is on their own popcorn. “Self-dispensing butter on popcorn is really popular right now,The solarpanel is available in a choice of shapes including dome and the traditional variety.” he said.
Now that it’s ADA-compliant, the theater and its restrooms can be used comfortably by people who use wheelchairs. A local Wounded Warrior who uses a wheelchair was invited to test everything out, and he gave a thumbs-up, Haley said.
Nearly all fixtures are new — from water fountains to door handles. The staircase leading to the upstairs balcony is now polished wood, and all the carpeting on the stairs and inside the theater is new.Middle and end clamps that fit the ledstriplighting to the rails.
The theater seats, curtains and sound boards were redone a few years ago. But the stage lighting was never updated, so it was all replaced with an LED system to make it brighter and more energy-efficient.
Some of the remodeled areas won’t be seen by most movie-goers. The wooden stage floor was sanded down and refinished. The dressing rooms behind the stage were redone with new fixtures. The sound system was rebraced to make it more secure.Marking machines and hidlightses for permanent part marking and product traceability.
Of all the changes, Haley thinks the addition of air conditioning will make the biggest difference.
“Especially during the summers,” he said, “it would get really bad during some sneak previews. I think that’s going to be the most appreciated change.” Click on their website www.aodepu.net for more information.
