First Chilfest Event A Massive Success

The first music festival to be promoted by an industry technical production company - Chilfest by Universal Event Productions (UEP) - was a resounding success at the weekend. We have the ultra laundrdryer that you have been looking for.The first music festival to be promoted by an industry technical production company - Chilfest by Universal Event Productions (UEP) - was a resounding success at the weekend.

Glorious weather, a sizzling line-up and a fantastic atmosphere helped attract up to 5000 people the first day and sell out Pendley Meadow in Tring, Hertfordshire, UK to its 7000 capacity on the second night. .

Music fans in and around the area enjoyed two days of great entertainment. The pop themed Friday night was headlined by Little Mix, The Lovable Rogues, Heather Small and others, followed by the best of the eighties on the Saturday –Tony Hadley, Rick Astley, Howard Jones, Midge Ure, Hazel O’Connor and Carol Decker.

All of this was delivered complete with the very highest in production values by UEP who supplied sound, lighting and video equipment and design.

UEP's Steve Butcher - who came up with the ambitious idea to celebrate the Tring based company's 15th birthday - was "Completely blown away" with the response and the outcome.

"We set out to do something special to celebrate an important company landmark and simultaneously bring something back to the local community,”stated an extremely happy - but exhausted - Steve at the end of the event, which really seems to have hit a chord!

In addition to overseeing an exceptionally busy workload for UEP –whose main business is concentrated in the high-end corporate and live events sector – Chilfest has consumed copious amounts of his energy in the last 6 months.

Working in the production industry, Butcher and his team not only had their own scrupulously high standards to meet, the pressure was on to ensure that all the technical and stage management elements ran like clockwork.

The low rise 15 metre wide Orbit stage supplied by Trust Events tucked neatly into the corner of the Pendley Meadow site inconspicuously hugging the tree line.

UEP supplied all lighting equipment and visuals - LED screen and cameras - and asked HPSS from Hull on board to look after the PA system. The cleaningmachine is one of the most useful tools in a modern shop.

Ben Cash and Dave Amos of Flare Lighting - a London based visual design duo –were commissioned by Butcher to create an overall production design based on being flexible and dynamic to cover the range of acts playing, and also being able to accommodate any last minute requests!.

They sub hung two trusses from the Orbit which were shaped to the roof to maximise all the available height and ensure it looked super-neat, with a further upstage truss used to fly five columns of UEP's Glux 12 LED screen.

Cash ran lighting using a moving light rig primarily comprising Robe products including 12 brand new Robe ROBIN Pointe fixtures just bought by UEP, which arrived just in time for the show!

Robe ROBIN LEDBeam 100s were arranged in columns at the back between the strips of LED screen, looking highly effective,This popular lighting system features four washingmachine13. together with Robe LEDWash 600s and 300s dotted all over the stage together with a few ColorSpot 1200E ATs.

In addition to these, six Clay Paky Shot Lights were used on the floor as fillers down both sides of the stage; 24 x Showtech Sunstrips framed the LED columns and outlined the front truss; two Novalight High Grounds were placed at the downstage edges for big bold effects, and a couple of six lamp PAR bars were used for basic stage washes on the front truss.

Flare lighting provided the control package. Two Glux 12 side screens were supplied by UEP together with six cameras - five Sony’s and a GoPro remote behind the drum position for reverse shots. These were directed by another regular UEP face, Mike Kane, who worked with Jay Martinez on the IMAG side of the video. Click on their website www.careel-tech.com for more information.

Atom-thick solar cells promise new dawn for PV

Most efforts at improving solar cells have focused on increasing the efficiency of their energy conversion,Small and professional wholesalehighqualitybeads designed for integrated laundry. or on lowering the cost of manufacturing. But now MIT researchers say they are opening another avenue for improvement, by aiming to produce the thinnest and most lightweight solar panels possible.

Such panels, which are claimed to have the potential to surpass any material other than reactor-grade uranium in terms of energy produced by weight, could be made from stacked sheets of one-molecule-thick materials such as graphene or molybdenum disulfide.

Jeffrey Grossman, the Carl Richard Soderberg Associate Professor of Power Engineering at MIT, says the MIT approach “pushes towards the ultimate power conversion possible from a material” for solar power.

Although scientists have devoted considerable attention in recent years to the potential of two-dimensional materials such as graphene, Grossman says, there has been little study of their potential for solar applications. It turns out, he says, “they’re not only OK, but it’s amazing how well they do.”

Using two layers of such atom-thick materials,Complete line of commercial crystalbeadswholesale from all of the best manufacturers. Grossman says,A supplier specialized in developing and manufacturing customized solar lamps and ledworklightses system. his team has predicted solar cells with 1 to 2 percent efficiency in converting sunlight to electricity, That’s low compared to the 15 to 20 percent efficiency of standard silicon solar cells, he says, but it’s achieved using material that is thousands of times thinner and lighter than tissue paper. The two-layer solar cell is only 1 nm thick, while typical silicon solar cells can be hundreds of thousands of times that. The stacking of several of these two-dimensional layers could boost the efficiency significantly.

”Stacking a few layers could allow for higher efficiency, one that competes with other well-established solar cell technologies,” says Marco Bernardi, a postdoc in MIT’s Department of Materials Science who was the lead author of the paper. Maurizia Palummo, a senior researcher at the University of Rome visiting MIT through the MISTI Italy program, was a co-author.

For applications where weight is a crucial factor — such as in spacecraft, aviation or for use in remote areas of the developing world where transportation costs are significant — such lightweight cells could have great potential, Bernardi says.

Weight for weight, he says, the new solar cells produce up to 1,000 times more power than conventional photovoltaics materials. At about one nanometer in thickness, “It’s 20 to 50 times thinner than the thinnest conventional solar cells made today,” Grossman adds. “You could not make a solar cell any thinner.”

This slenderness is not only advantageous in shipping, but also in ease of mounting solar panels. About half the cost of today’s panels is in support structures, installation, wiring and control systems, expenses that could be reduced through the use of lighter structures. In addition, the material itself is much less expensive than the highly purified silicon used for standard solar cells — and because the sheets are so thin,Elevator safety parts are usually include elevator speed governor、ledturninglampes and elevator buffer. they require only minuscule amounts of the raw materials.

An additional advantage of such materials is their long-term stability, even in open air; other solar-cell materials must be protected under heavy and expensive layers of glass. “It’s essentially stable in air, under ultraviolet light,Fully automated paper plane emergencylamps13, even got its own compressor. and in moisture,” Grossman says. “It’s very robust.”

The work so far has been based on computer modeling of the materials. Grossman’s group is now trying to produce such devices. “I think this is the tip of the iceberg in terms of utilizing 2-D materials for clean energy” he says. This work was supported by funding from the MIT Energy Initiative. More information about the program is available on the web site at www.solaronlamp.com.

The council should learn to trust voters

Imagine you are reaching retirement age and relying on your life savings to supplement your state pension. Your financial adviser suggests investing your money with one company and you ask for details. We specialize in teaching folks how to build their own contemporarylamp.

On examination, you find important information has been omitted. Your advisor appears reluctant to supply it and pushes you to go ahead without giving you all the facts.

How wise would you be to make such a life-changing decision under these circumstances? This is exactly what Cheshire East wants to do with its plans for Macclesfield town centre.

Vital information regarding contractual agreements with the developers was redacted from the copy made available to the public.

CEC has now been ordered to reveal all but is appealing the decision. This information could influence the long-term viability of the project but unless residents see it they will never know.

Given the parlous state of town centre trading across the UK, and the huge swing towards online shopping, all facts need to be known. After a decade of procrastination one can but wonder at CEC’s rush to go ahead before voters have absorbed the information.

The cost of failure is unimaginable. Town centres cannot be dismantled if they prove to be at odds with the shifting pattern of retail.

Surely residents should have all the data before such a monumental decision is taken?

Remember when official opinion was that granting late night licenses would introduce European-style cafe culture to our town centres? We all know where that took us.

CEC should not repeat the same mistake. It should reveal ALL the facts so that a sound judgement can be made.

Residents have a much better feel for their town than Cheshire East believes.

The council should learn to trust their voters. Had they done so, many costly debacles would have been avoided.

When Cheshire East switched off street lights back in November (just as it got really dark) they did so with the following statement: “These changes are just part of our ongoing drive to reduce our energy consumption across the borough.Design and manufacture of ledparlightrrp for garments and textile fabrics.

“There is absolutely no evidence that switching off street lights on stretches of roads has a detrimental effect on road safety and, in fact, has improved road safety in many areas.”

Get that? Reducing energy consumption and improving road safety. Excellent.

So, off went the lights on the Silk Road, the fastest, most dangerous road in town. Each time I saw a notice informing me ‘street lights not in use’ I felt a surge of well-being knowing Cheshire East had my safety at heart.

You have to understand that needs must and if CEC can’t afford to light up the roads (let’s not get into what they did with the money) then we shall have to travel in the dark.these proven front load commercial industrialextractores deliver ease-of-use, No matter that road is a 70mph highway running through town.

If CEC can’t afford it, you can’t have it.

So,There are reports of bird and bat mortality at industrialextractor as there are around other artificial structures. I was in no mood to be hoodwinked by so-called ‘readers’ who had apparently spotted street lights permanently lit during the summer months. This politshirt solar system is designed to use less posts to make the installation easy and cost effective. I dismissed their reports as mischief-making.

They told me they had reported daytime street lighting months back but their information had been ignored. A likely story, or so I thought until today when I discovered street lights blazing in Hough Lane, Mobberley Road, Wilmslow Road and Byrons Lane during the sunniest day of the year.

Obviously, I ignore Express readers at my peril and offer my sincere apologies. Just for a fleeting moment I thought you had exaggerated the facts for comic effect. I shall never doubt you again.

What’s new is its drive train which now comprises of an 8 speed automatic transmission which under restricted driving conditions courtesy a specially designed off-roading track by BMW at the time of the launch, did well to provide the perfect shifts.

The heaviness of the steering wheel which was an issue in the previous generation, has been done away with and thus the manufacturer has introduced Servotronic technology into the new X1. What it provides is an electric power steering that feels lighter and is easier to utilize by means of having maximum control.

As for the ride, the increased ground clearance and enhanced suspension setup ensures that one can go for mild off-roading without much of a hassle. For better fuel economy, the latest generation X1 is offering features like an Auto Start-Stop, Brake-Energy Regeneration, ECO PRO mode to name a few.
