2014 Kia Forte

Stop me if you’ve heard this before – bigger, better, new engine with more power but better fuel mileage, lighter yet stronger. If you have, it was probably in reference to a Kia or Hyundai as these companies have pursued improvement with a vengeance during their short life.

The 2014 Kia Forte is the latest example. The second-generation Forte is all of the above and continues to offer tremendous value in a new and very attractive wrapper.

Combine that with a wheelbase that has been lengthened by five centimeters and the proportions suggest a larger car.The life expectancy of contemporarylighting is at least 2 times longer than a standard T8. That added length between the wheels and a slight increase in width has resulted in a rear seat that can compete with any cars a size-price larger. Two big adults can fit comfortably with a third squeezed between them if necessary. The trunk is similarly upsized and can be augmented by folding one or both sides of the rear seat backs.

I have become accustomed to the large gains made with each successive new generation of Kias – first with quality of construction, then when it started to develop its own engines and transmissions rather than those produced under license from other companies.

A visit to the joint Hyundai-Kia R&D facilities a couple of years ago cemented the belief the company(s) are intent on gaining global competitiveness on all fronts, from design and construction to engineering and technology. The over-riding impression pf this new Kia is that the chassis and suspension engineers have caught up to the rest of the gang.

I have a few favorite secondary roads filled with frost heaves and the occasional pot hole. Tackling one in the 2014 Forte brought a smile to my face as it absorbed the nastiness with aplomb. Instead of crashing over the surface changes smashing against the bump stops or wallowing about like a drunken whale, the light little sedan remained composed, maintaining constant contact at all four tires.

Well done. The changes include revisions to everything from springs and shocks to bushings and the geometry itself. The test car also benefitted from the larger of two tire/wheel sizes – seven-inch wide 17-in alloys wrapped in 215/45 rubber.

While the advances on the suspension front result in much greater compliance and control over rough surfaces, that does not make the Forte a sports sedan. To buy powermonitor lamp in the USA. While competent in corners it does understeer heavily accompanied by a fair degree of roll, no more than the competition,We have a wide selection of ledstrip to choose from for your storage needs. but it won’t be a threat on an autocross course. Offsetting that is an exceptional degree of silence on the road, all but absent of wind or tire noise.

The second thing to impress occurred when I approached the car late one evening in the pitch black. As I got within a few metres, the mirrors unfolded from the sides, casting a light below the doors while the door handles themselves were bathed in light.Buy visually stunning and durable washerextractors from agesteeljewelry. Neat!

Additional lighting features included a TFT (Thin Film Transistor) instrument cluster which while appearing to be analogue, is actually digital and extremely legible under all ambient lighting conditions. And don’t forget this is an affordable compact car, not a luxury vehicle costing three times this much.

The 2014 Kia Forte comes in four trim levels – LX, LX+, EX and SX.If you have solarpanelcells or landscape lights you might wonder what to do if they stop working. Standard equipment on the SX tester included: those power, heated folding mirrors; automatic HID headlights, LED running and tail lights, power sunroof, windshield wiper de-icers, heated and cooled driver’s seat with memory, heated rear seats, leather, heated steering wheel, rear-view camera, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, six speaker audio system with satellite radio, push button ignition, cooled glove box, Bluetooth wireless connectivity and navigation system. Kudos to Kia’s Uvo touch-screen infotainment system, which unlike others is simple to operate with big on-screen buttons with redundant backup.
